15 Things You Didn’t Know about Including Kids

  1. We have been providing programs for children and youth with autism and related delays ages 2 and up, for 15 years.
  2. Our programs within our organization are designed to help the whole child and based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) which is considered the Gold Standard for the treatment of autism.
  3. We make individualized plans for each child based on his or her needs.
  4. We serve both young adults and children with autism who exhibit aggressive behaviors.
  5. At Including Kids we envision a world where all children and young adults are given the chance to be included. The Goal of our dedicated staff and supportive community is to create a welcoming world where every child is given the opportunity to succeed.
  6. Including Kids, Inc. is an approved practicum site for the University of Houston at Clear Lake’s graduate program in applied behavior analysis. Several graduate students from Sam Houston State University have also gained experience with our organization.
  7. Including Kids has served over 900 families from 13 counties in the Greater Houston area.
  8. We work on generalizing medical treatments, haircuts, blood draws and any other necessary activities to help the families we serve.
  9. We are a Wraparound Program: we offer services to the whole family so family members can teach and support skills during typical family activities.
  10. We have partnered with Lone Star College-Kingwood to offer continuing education college courses at the Kingwood campus for young adults with special needs. Courses are taught by Including Kids staff and have covered topics such as Learning Framework (intro to college) and Get a Job (employment skills).
  11. We provide one Certified Behavior Analysts to oversee every 5-7 cases.
  12. Our quality interventions provide an emphasis on skills that will enable learners to be independent and successful in both the short and the long run.
  13. We use techniques to help trained skills carry over to various places, people and times and to enable learners to acquire new skills in a variety of settings.
  14. Our community services provide education on how to facilitate development of skills trainings, small groups, autism appreciation events, Babysitter courses, Internship/Mentorship programs, and free child care for “Parent’s Night Out.”
  15. We have partnerships with companies such as Memorial Hermann, Walgreens, HEB and Lifetime Fitness which provide job site opportunities with our young adults.
